Nearly 1,600 without power in Lawrence
Nearly 1,600 Westar Energy customers were without power Wednesday evening in Lawrence, the utility said.
The outage was situated in South Lawrence, along Iowa Street and south of 23rd Street.
Westar Energy says a pop-up storm is to blame. The storm lasted about five minutes, and crews worked to restore the power.
By 6:00 p.m., power had been restored to most customers.
