Lawrence - Normally, the library is a quiet place. But on Thursday, drum beats could be heard ringing through the halls of the Lawrence Public Library.
The library hosted Brandon Draper, a Kansas City percussionist, as part of "Drum Safari." Children learned about drumming and how rhythm finds its way into our everyday lives.
Draper says the goal is to show children their inner beat. "Kids are just naturally gifted at being playful, and drumming is such a playful instrument it requires very little skill outside of playfulness," said Draper. "I Just want to take the kids on a drum safari and open their eyes and ears to more rhythms and music of the world."
