KU student section finalist for national award
The driving force behind KU’s massive home court advantage is the KU student section. It’s made up of a group of rowdy, passionate and insanely committed fans who pack the Phog every night. Today all of those students came one step closer to receiving national recognition as the KU student section was named one of eight finalists for the first annual Naismith Student Section of the Year Award.
The 8 finalists beat out more than 300 other student sections, earning a spot in the finals through a public vote. But what is it about the KU student section that makes it head and shoulders above the rest. First and foremost, it's dedication. Students wait in line for hours, days before a game, just to have a shot of making it into the student section, which is considered by some to be the best seats in the house. If you're lucky enough to get a spot, you better be prepared.
